I’m a skeptic, just like you and like everyone else.  More to the point, Manny Ramirez was suspended by Major League Baseball today for a banned substance for 50 games.

Now, whether this discovery will be tied to steroids remains to be seen.  There are literally thousands of possible prescribed or over the counter drugs that could be read as a failed test.

Like I said, I’m skeptical.  If it were released he took steroids, I wouldn’t be surprised.  I always had a sneaking feeling about Manny from winter of 2001 when the Sox signed him until he left under a cloud of discontent last summer.  It’s like one of those relationships you find yourself in, it’s good but you have a nagging suspicion it is going to end very badly.

ESPN’s Peter Gammons is now reporting the substance was prescribed by a doctor in Florida and not a steroid.  We all know how that goes though.  Regardless of the turnout, it’s still another smack on the already black-eyed face of baseball.

I had to stop watching ESPN News the longer the story continued on.  The guests they had on to talk about the story were mostly ridiculous and unlistenable.  Probably one reason the dial on my radio rarely reaches 810 or 610AM in my car anymore.
